The donut pessary
By returning the pelvic organs to their original position, the Donut provides immediate relief from the symptoms caused by prolapse:
- feeling of pelvic heaviness
- pain, dyspareunia (pain during sexual intercourse)
- urinary problems caused by prolapse
Prevention
It also allows, worn at the first signs, even when the prolapse is still asymptomatic, to prevent the aggravation of the descent of organs and the appearance of symptoms.
Comfort
The thickness of the Donut pessary allows a balanced distribution of contact and pressure on the vaginal walls, and therefore a very good tolerance of the mucosa.
Hygiene
Its large orifice allows natural vaginal secretions, or menstrual discharge, to flow freely, without generating bacterial proliferation or odor.
Nothing to manage
Despite its flexibility and comfort, the Donut pessary is more difficult to insert and remove than other types of pessaries, especially for larger sizes. It is therefore particularly suitable for women who want to wear it continuously without thinking about it.
The Donut pessary, due to its volume, is likely to interfere with sexual intercourse. It is recommended, when possible, to remove it before intercourse and reposition it afterwards.
